Marvin Edwin Martin, 92, of Cumming, GA died Saturday August 30, 2014 at Chestnut Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on October 18, 1921 in Portsmouth to the late Harry C. Martin and Rachel A. Dillon Martin. He was a Electronic Engineer with the Military Defense Industry and taught school from 1965 to 1967 at Waverly High School in Waverly, OH. He served with the 9th USAAF,CPL. 17th Photo Technical Unit in Europe and received the Good Conduct Metal, Meritorious Commendation, American Campaign Metal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and SILVER STAR attachment, WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Marksman Badge & Rifle Bar. He was a member of the American Legion, Cumming, GA Post, past member of VFW, Masonic Lodge, American Society for Quality Control Certified by OH Genealogy Society as a member of First Families of OHIO. He was married on February 12, 1947 in Greenup, KY. to the late Edna C. Kaltenbach Martin. He is survived by one son Mark E. Martin of Eastlake, OH, two daughters, Teresa Cozette Martin Pettyjohn (Mickey) of Dawsonville, GA and Kathy Martin Benson (Dennis) of Springfield, OH. Three sisters, Shirley Martin Stewart, Karon Martin Joseph and Sharon Martin Brady; grandchildren, Michael A. Pettyjohn, Dana Howerton, Rachel Morter and Eric and Emily Martin; great-grandchildren, Nicholas A. Pettyjohn, Diana and Charles Howerton. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Lena Hanley Martin; siblings, Harry Quentin Martin, Betty Martin Jenkins, Virginia Martin Cole and Eloise Martin McManus. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN SOUTH WEBSTER with Pastor Paul Hagen officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster Cemetery with military graveside honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.
