Age 85 of Franklin Furnace, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018. She was born June 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Barth and Lillie Barker Stapleton. Mary attended Jeanette's Creek Christian Baptist Church, loved reading her Bible, being involved with the Church, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles.

She is survived by her husband, Elza Johnson; two sons, Richard (Terri Sue) Johnson of Tulsa, OK and Bobby (Marietta) Johnson of Franklin Furnace; two daughters, Diana Hineman of Franklin Furnace and Pamela (Steve) Lute of McDermott; two sisters, Betty Carmichael of Mansfield and Dot Stapleton of Franklin Furnace; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Michael Johnson, one brother Robert Stapleton, and a sister, Jean Smith.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Jeanette's Creek Christian Baptist Church with Pastors Larry Ison and Jared Hineman officiating. Interment will follow at Junior Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday March 12, 2018 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church.
