Matthew Allen McGowan, 39, of South Webster, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born on January 20, 1987, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Allen Holbrook and Tammy McGowan.

Matthew will be remembered not only for the people he loved, but also for the interests and passions that made him uniquely himself. He enjoyed collecting Pokémon cards and baseball cards and was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. These simple joys brought him happiness and gave him countless memories to share with those around him.

Above all, Matthew was a son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His greatest legacy will live on through the family and loved ones who carry his memory in their hearts. He is survived by his mother, Tammy McGowan; his beloved son, Aiden McGowan; his sister, Crystal McGowan; and niece and nephew, Addison Hapton and Landon McGowan; along with several other family members and friends.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Allen Holbrook; his grandparents, Darleen Holbrook, Velva McGowan, and Harold McGowan Sr.; his aunt, Teresa McGowan; and his cousins, David Justice and Timmy Montalvo II.

Though his time with us was far too short, Matthew leaves behind memories that will be cherished by his family and loved ones. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
