Maxie Lee McKinney
Age 63, of Portsmouth, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 in Ashland, KY. He was born in Wayne, WV on August 12, 1950 to Edna McGuire-McKinney. Maxie spent 23 years working for the National Electric Coil Company in Columbus and moved to the Southern Ohio area in 2009. He loved classic cars and enjoyed collecting guns and knives. Most of all, Maxie loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Heidi, who he married on September 3, 1988; four sons, William Lee McKinney (Lori) of Columbus, Jonathon McKinney of Columbus, Allen Johnson of Columbus, Timothy McKinney (Nicole) of Columbus; one daughter, Christie Stevens (Tonie) of Columbus; three brothers, Dave McKinney (Mary Lou) of Proctorville, Carl McKinney of Portsmouth, James "Boone" McKinney (Ruth) of Louisa, KY; one sister, Connie Sue Cooper of Portsmouth; sixteen grandchildren, Anthony, Joshua, Dustin, Austin, Clorrissa, Noah, Jonathon, Dakota, Allen Jr., Christian, Aidan, Leon, Alyzabeth, Bridgett, Angel, Timothy; former wife, Shirley McKinney. He was preceded in death by his mother, seven brothers and sisters, daughter-in-law Tracy McKinney.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Preacher Burle Wright and Pastor Robert Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
