Melvin LeRoy "Buddy" Anderson III, 75, passed away Monday June 5, 2023 surrounded by family.  Born January 29, 1948 to the late Melvin Anderson and the late Helen Craig Eldridge in Portsmouth, Ohio.  Buddy was a resident of Wheelersburg but had grown up in Sciotoville where he attended Harding Elementary,  North Moreland  Elementary and East High School before joining the United States Army.  He served in combat during the Vietnam War and was always proud of his service to his country.  Buddy loved fishing the Ohio River as well as the Gulf of Mexico.

Buddy is survived by his girlfriend and companion of 32 years, Glenna Wilburn; three children, Serena Silcox (Gary) of Lucasville; Charles Anderson (Karen ) of Franklin Furnace; and Earl Anderson (Amy ) of Newark, Ohio; two stepchildren, Amy Wickline and Keith Wickline of Wheelersburg; sisters, Dianna Anderson of Sciotoville, Gail Lands (Tim), and Iris Anderson (Kenny) of Bryan, Ohio, Connie Anderson and Denise Henson (David) of Portsmouth, Bonnie Chochard and Rita Moore of Columbus;  a brother, Donnie Stiltner (Helen) of Wheelersburg; Seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; with his granddaughter, Cheyenne holding a special place in his heart as well, a nephew Brian Anderson.

Preceding Buddy in death is his stepfather Marion Eldridge; brothers, Ricky, Barry and Carey Anderson, Mike Stiltner; sisters, Cora Anderson Roberts, Sherriall Anderson Kuhn, Velda Anderson Eggers, his wife Linda Sue Mershon; a grandson, Cody and grandparents Claude and Cora Craig and Clarence and Mary Anderson.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace under the direction of D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE - NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville.  Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
