Obituary

Mildred "Mid" Carver Smith, 85, of Sciotoville, passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. She was born April 21, 1924 in Portsmouth to the late Jess and Ruie Hughes. Mid was a graduate of Wheelersburg High School, class of 1942 and she was employed by Community Action Organization for over 20 years. She was an animal lover, enjoyed camping, and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched. Mid is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Jim) Caldwell of Wheelersburg, a son Gib (Kim) Carver of Sciotoville, 2 stepchildren, Amy Smith of Cincinnati and Vincent (Joyce) Smith of Cincinnati, sister-in-law Delores Leesburg, seven grandchildren, Tina (Troy) Inman, Tim (Kelly) Lang, Greg (Robin) Lang, Kelly Jo (Dave) Fehrenbach, Heidi (Scott) Winchell, Shellie (Rusty) Knight, Trish Carver, eleven great-grandchildren, Meagan, Morgan, and T.J. Lang, Jacob & Todd Lang, Miya Inman, Christopher Carver, Alisha and Ashley Audet, Dayla Ballou, Nevaeh Knight, and one great-great-grandchild, Eva Ramos. In addition to her parents, Mid was preceded in death by her first husband, Gilbert L. Carver, her second husband, Glenn R. Smith, a brother, Jesse Hughes, Jr., and a great-grandchild, Sydney Winchell. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at the Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville. Pastor Frank James will be officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Old Wheelersburg Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
