Patricia A. “Pat” Bender, 86, of New Boston, formerly of the Rigrish Addition, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at the SOMC Hospice Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was born January 13, 1939, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Jay and Irma Smith. A lifelong resident of Scioto County, she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her family. Pat was employed for many years at Clarks/Rinks and Portsmouth Receiving Hospital and later retired from the State of Ohio.

Pat was a woman of faith who enjoyed attending Harrison Freewill Baptist Church and taking part in church activities. She found joy in ceramics and traveling, but nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she cherished every moment with them.

She is survived by her loving sons, Chris Bender (Kathy) of New Boston and Vincent Bender (Rhonda) of Portsmouth; her grandchildren, Jessica and Eric Voiers, Cody and Danielle Bender, Brandon (Mariah) Bender, Andrew (Michelle) Bender, and Hannah (Gabe) Mena; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Tanner (Gwen), Brady, McKylie, and Cam Voiers; Kendall (Jared) Gahm; Connor (Rylee) and Kennedy Bender; Alena and Maddox Mena; and Kinsley Cook.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Charles “Joe” Bender, who passed away in 2024, as well as her siblings.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to SOMC Hospice, especially Sarah, Toni, Makayla, and Joanne, for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during Pat’s final days.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday January 13, 2026, at 11:00AM at D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Sciotoville, Pastors Mike Mounts and Ron Baker officiating. Interment to follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Visitation is Monday, January 12, 2026, 6:00PM- 8:00PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
