Paul Hammond, 84, of South Webster, passed away Thursday January 12, 2023 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born January 15, 1938 in Chillicothe, a son of the late James Hammond and Elva (Shepherd) Hammond McGlone.
He was a member of the Scioto Furnace Pentecostal Church of Christ, was a machinist by trade, enjoyed fishing, woodworking, reading his Bible and spending time with his family. He was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything.
Paul is survived by a son, David Hammond and wife Martha of Wellston; a brother, Bob Hammond and wife Ruth of South Webster; two sisters, Linda Rawlins and husband Tim of South Webster and Christine Coon of McArthur; grandchildren, Sara (Josh) Moon, Amanda (Kris) Coughenour, Rusty Sowards, Aaron (Kayla) Sowards, Mikey Cooper and Mary Jo (Roger) Toland, several great-grandchildren including Brenton and Emma Moon, Madeline and Sophie Coughenour. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Naomi Hammond; a son, James Hammond; four brothers, Fred Aldridge, Raymond Hammond, Jerry McGlone and Timmy McGlone; two sisters, Wanda Osborne and Ermalene Jackson. The family would like to thank SOMC Hospice and Jennie Meacham for their care and support.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday January 15, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Ronnie Rawlins officiating. Interment will follow at Scioto Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 12 to 2 PM at the funeral home.
