Daddy" David Carter
August 7, 1947 – April 10, 2014
Age 66, of Wheelersburg, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 10, 2014. He was born on August 7, 1947 in Portsmouth to Phillip and Norma Jean (Hurst) Carter. A 1965 graduate of East High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force and subsequently attended college at Shawnee. Phillip spent 34 years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed flea markets, gun collecting, racing, hot rods, and especially enjoyed restoring cars. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Kay; four sons, Charles Ehrhart (Patricia) of Wheelersburg, John Ehrhart of Sciotoville, Benjamin Carter (Buffy) of Wheelersburg, Brian Carter of Wheelersburg; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Joey, Brent, Ashley, Josh, Aly, Erin, Abigail, Kaylynn; four great-grandchildren, Donovan, Maleah, Ava, and Cash. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Harold DuPuey officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon Township. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 - 7 p.m. and one hour before the service at the funeral home on Monday.
