Phyllis Jane Howard, 82, of Sciotoville, passed away Monday September 26, 2022. She was born November 6, 1939 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Taylor) Newman.

She was a graduate of Minford High School who enjoyed ceramics, crafts, cooking and most of all, raising her children.

Phyllis is survived by three sons, Virgil Howard Jr, and wife Donna of Portsmouth, Scotty Howard of Sciotoville, Lionel Howard and wife Beth of Zephyrhills, FL; two daughters, Angela McCain and husband George of South Webster, Tina Sullivan and husband Eddie of Wheelersburg; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Virgil Howard, a son Troy Howard; a brother Bob Newman and two sisters, Janet Melvin and Jeannine Hale.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday September 30, 2022 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with interment to follow at Haverhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home.
