Phyllis Jean Shoemaker Jewell, 77 of Wheelersburg, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the SOMC Hospice Care Center in Portsmouth. She was born April 2, 1938 in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Clarence Edward Shoemaker and Helen Bertram Shoemaker Easter. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Jewell, whom she married on December 1, 1956 in Portsmouth; two daughters, Sandra Billings and Linda Ratliff; one sister, Janice Shoemaker; father and mother in law, Frank and Alice Jewell. She was a member of the North Moreland Christian Baptist Church.

Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Susan Kaiser of Portsmouth; a son, David (Leslie) Jewell of Wheelersburg; one sister, Carolyn Sue Williams of Portsmouth; one son in law, Larry Ratliff along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Rev. Paul Willis Hagen officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. The family will receive friends from 11 until the funeral hour on friday at the funeral home.
