Obituary

Raymond E. "Jack" Basil, 87, of South Webster passed away Monday Jan. 26, 2015 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born Nov. 7, 1927 in South Webster a son of the late Earl and Mildred Shope Basil. Jack was retired from Standard Oil (BP) with 35 years service, was a former Assistant Fire Chief in South Webster, was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church, the South Webster Hall of Fame and the former Lions Club.

He is survived by a son, Jack D. Basil and wife Elaine of Gallipolis; one daughter, Karen Lawhun and husband Odie of South Webster; one brother, Richard Basil of Cincinnati; 3 grandchildren, Corey (Katie) Lawhun, Tanner Lawhun and Jayne (Jeremy) Peck; 2 step-grandchildren, Tony Vance of Gallipolis and Daniel Vance of Columbus; 1 great grandchild, Jaylyn Lee and a step-great grandchild, Trisan Vance. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elnora Basil.

Services will be 11 AM Thursday Jan. 29, 2015 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN SOUTH WEBSTER with Pastors Chris Oiler and Travis Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Wednesday and 10 to 11 AM Thursday at D.W. Swick in South Webster. Condolences to www.dwswickfuneralhome.com.
