Richard William Campbell, 69, of Lucasville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 02, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born on April 08, 1957, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Richard was the beloved son of Eugene and Mary (Myers) Campbell.
Richard dedicated his life to serving his community through the practice of law. He established his own law practice, where he focused on family law and also served as a public defender and as the former City Prosecuting Attorney for Portsmouth. Throughout his career, he was known for his integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others navigate life's most difficult moments. A 1975 graduate of Northwest High School, Richard continued his education at The Ohio State University, earning his bachelor's degree in 1979, before receiving his Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University in 1982. He took great pride in both his education and his profession.
Outside of the courtroom, Richard embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved spending time on the golf course, enjoyed losing himself in a good book, and was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he was a faithful member of LifePoint Church in Portsmouth.
More than any accomplishment, Richard's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an adoring grandfather who delighted in spoiling those he loved. His generous heart, quick wit, and unmistakable laughter had a way of filling every room, leaving lasting memories for all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but for his kindness, his humor, and the genuine love he shared so freely.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Jazmina Campbell; his daughters, Anna (Cory) McGlone of Lexington, Kentucky, and Rachel (Matt Booker) Campbell of Washington, D.C.; and his cherished granddaughter, Marisol McGlone, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Richard's legacy of faith, service, laughter, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
