Age 70 of Sciotoville, died November 4, 2015 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was born June 30, 1945 in Portsmouth to Clarence and Ethel (Yelley) Scurlock. He graduated from Clay High School in 1963. Ripley retired after working as a mechanic for 30 years for the city of Portsmouth. Prior to that he worked as a crane operator for Detroit Empire Steel. He was a member of the Army Reserve, enjoyed photography, motorcycles, and spending time with his family, especially with his grandson Jonah.
He is survived by one daughter, Robyn Cheek (Steve) of Sciotoville; one brother, Joe Scurlock (Wanda) of Myrtle Beach, SC; one grandson, Jonah Cheek; several nephews, nieces, and cousins; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Harold and Grace Adams of Rubyville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela in 1993.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2015 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Sunday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
