Age 90 of Sciotoville, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2016 at SOMC Hospice. He was born September 3, 1925 in Portsmouth to Wilbert and Alma (Colley) Howard. A 1943 graduate of Portsmouth High School, he served his country in the Navy during WWII. Professionally he was a contractor specializing in dry wall installation. Robert loved to fish especially for catfish in Cliff's Lake. He was a member of Highland Bend Christian Baptist Church.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Parham of Crossville, TN, Vicki Barber of Chillicothe; three sons, Roger Colley (Jane) of Portsmouth, Tim Colley of Portsmouth, Rick Colley of West Portsmouth; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ruth Maggard of Wheelersburg, Verla Messer of Wheelersburg, Betty Rader of Wheelersburg, Patricia Humble of Wheelersburg, Mary Bartee of Dayton; two brothers, Herman Howard of Tip City, Virgil Howard of Sciotoville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; three sons, Brian, Bobby, and Michael Colley; two brothers, Wilbert Howard, Jr. and Vernon Howard; three sisters, Carol Thurman, Arvilla Ruggles, and Ruby Roof.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace with military honors provided by the James Dickey American Legion Post #23. Friends may call Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour before the service. Online condolences may be left at www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to SOMC Hospice.
