Robert Glen Swords, 77, of Portsmouth, was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. He was born August 26, 1933, a son of the late Adam and Susan France Howe Swords. He was employed by the former AAA Termite Company for numerous years. Glen is survived by six sons, Robert Swords ( Kay) of Portsmouth, Adam Swords of Portsmouth, Gary Swords of Cleveland, Doug Munion (Susie) of Portsmouth, Spencer Munion of Warren, and Blaine Lockwood (Linda) of Portsmouth; three daughters, Joyce Moore of Blue Creek, Jane Diller of Portsmouth, Glenna Swords of Cleveland; one brother, Paul Swords of Indiana; three sisters, Eva Sexton of Minford, Mary Elliot of Portsmouth, Betty Hite of Columbus; a special friend, Phil Newton of Portsmouth; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by former spouses Clara Swords and Norma Jean Swords; a step-son Steve Munion; a grandson, Casey Robinson; six brothers, Charles, Walter, Edward, Howard, Lee Roy, and William Swords; and a sister Clara Elizabeth Swords. The family would like to extend their thanks to SOMC Hospice Nurses and the SOMC Cancer Center. They would also like to give a special thank you to Mary Jenkins his home health aide. Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, August 5, 2011, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Ronnie Blevins officiating. Burial will be at Long Run United Methodist Cemetery.
