Obituary

Roger Taylor, 80, of Portsmouth, passed away Saturday June 24, 2023 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born January 30, 1943 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Alva and Edna Owsley Taylor.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a graduate of Portsmouth High School and enjoyed playing around and working on guitars and guns. He also enjoyed watching TV and spending time with his family.

Roger is survived by a son, John Taylor and Lisa Taylor of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Brittany Taylor, Jonathon Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Ashley Lunsford, Laura Taylor and Rose Taylor; two sisters, Gloria Bocook of Sciotoville and Kim Huddleston of Columbus; step-children, Cindy Piatt, Tracy Henderson and Ernie Thomas; nine step-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Taylor, his second wife, Bonnie Taylor, a sister, Judy Coe, Susan Reed and step-son Luke Thomas.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday June 29, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Mike Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.  Visitation will be 1 to 2 PM prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
