Rose Mary Hughes, 86, formerly of West Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the Kingsbrook Life Center in Ashland, KY. She was born October 29, 1925 in New Boston, to the late Collie and Myrtle (Swannigan) Williams. Rose was a 1944 graduate of New Boston High School. She worked at Williams Shoe Factory for 31 years and later worked at SOMC for 10 years in the Dietary Department. She liked to read and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Bloomfield of Flatwoods, KY; a granddaughter, Lori Easter (David) of West Portsmouth; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Rose Easter of West Portsmouth. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Jess "Jack" Hughes, who died in 2010 and many brothers and sisters. Rose was the last surviving sibling. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Frank Tallerico officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg.
