Rosena Marie (Horton) Raike was born March 19, 1937 in Lucasville, Ohio to the late Ray and Irene (Eastwood) Horton. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 9, 2023 at SOMC Hospice Center after an extended illness.
She was a 1955 Graduate of Wheelersburg High School and married her high school sweetheart, Denver E. Raike on December 28, 1955.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Shirley Horton Gulley; in-laws, Fred and Thelma Raike, brother-in-law, Leroy Raike, sister-in-law, Evelyn Stone and nephews, Chris Vogler and Jess "Junior" Raike.
Rosena is survived by her husband Denver; brother, Chuck (Betty) Horton; sister, Connie (Bob) Pratt; sisters-in-law, Mona (Bob) Osborn and Geraldine Raike; brother-in-law, Mike Raike; her children, Tammy (Lawrence) Harris of Wheelersburg and Tony (Mary) Raike of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren, Jason Harris, Kevin Harris, Kristi (Matt) Rowland, Bethanie (Alex) Miller, Stephanie Vanderpool, Madelyn Raike and Allyson Raike, 7 great-grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.
Rosena was well known for her cooking skills and hospitality. She owned and operated Sciotodale Grocery Store and Minford Airport restaurant. She worked for Schaefer's grocery as their book keeper for many years. She and Denver enjoyed summers at the beach with family and friends and traveling all over the United States. She grew up attending Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene and continued her fellowship with Christ at Rubyville Community Church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers/special friends that helped care for her through the years, Debbie Turner, Rhonda Smith, Kandi Temple and niece Debbie Stone-Cyrus as well as SOMC Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SOMC Hospice in Rosena's memory.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Thursday May 11, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Friday May 12, 2023 with visitation from 12 to 1 at Rubyville Community Church with Pastors Calvin Ray Evans and Brian Baer officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
