Sally Darlene Simmering, 79, of Rubyville passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her home.  She was born August 15, 1944 in Portsmouth to the late Roy and Cynthia Myrtle (Sloas) NewKirk.  Sally loved to play video games, her favorite was Animal Crossing.  She also enjoyed watching television.  Sally knitted and crocheted.  She loved cooking for her family, especially baking pies.  She was a story teller and loved to tell about things that she had seen and had happened over the years of her life.  When she was young she loved to go to the corner store her dad owned.

Sally is survived by a son, Freddie Simmering and wife Amber of Portsmouth; two daughters, Miriam Jean Simmering of Athens and Cynthia Book and husband Jeff of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her husband whom she married in 1960, Freddie Simmering.
