Sandra Marie (Lore) Short, 54, of Athens, Alabama, formerly of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord May 24, 2009 at an Athens, Alabama Hospital. She was born June 12, 1954 in Portsmouth, to Creana Wiley Stiles and the late John Edward Lore. Sandra was an activity leader for over 10 years with the MRDD program. She was a member of Sunny Side Church in Athens, AL, where she was a song leader. She is survived by her husband, Jay Short, of Athens, AL, five sons, Mark Moore (Stephanie) of Athens, AL, David Moore, and special friend Becky, of Wheelersburg, Joe Moore (Bobbie Jo) of Portsmouth, Russell Moore (Angel) of Wheelersburg, and Royce Short of Grayson, KY, three daughters, Sheila Hall (Freeland) of Lucasville, Kimberly Scott (Dwayne) of Grayson, KY, and Jayna Clements (Terry) of Hallsville, OH. She is also survived by her mother, Creana Stiles of New Boston, a brother, John Lore (Phyllis) of Mississippi, three sisters, Alberta "Bunnie" Casteel (Robert) of Wheelersburg, Shirley Stiltner (Floyd) of Wheelersburg, and Vickie Stiltner (Danny) of Wheelersburg, 18 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John Lore and by a brother, Spencer Ray Lore. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Marvin Short officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Kingston, OH. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 - 11 at the funeral home. Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville is handling the arrangements.
