Sarah Kathryn Simmering Fenton, born June 14, 1940, passed away peacefully in the care of SOMC Hospice on September 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Sarah was born to the late Wilbur and Callie (Queen) Simmering. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Willard “Bill” Fenton, her parents and her beloved son, James “Jim” Fenton.

Sarah was an only child, but when she married into the Fenton family, she was lovingly welcomed as one of their own. She cherished the family she gained and the many relationships and memories they shared throughout the years.

She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Carl) Rice of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Jane (Bill) Raison of Wheelersburg, Ohio; six grandchildren, Michelle (Jared) Canter, Aaron (Randi) Fenton, Patrick (Ashley) Rice, Adam (Amy) Rice, Emily (Nathan) DeCamp, and Grace (Dallas) Kastens; and five great-grandchildren, Nathan and Mia Canter, Wade and Waylon Fenton, and Lily Rice.

Sarah was a proud graduate of the South Webster High School Class of 1958. She spent many years as the owner and operator of F. H. Simmering & Son, carrying on a family business that was an important part of the South Webster community.

She loved life, people, and staying active. Sarah spent more than 30 winters in Polo Park, Florida, where she discovered a love for golf and made countless friendships and memories. She was instrumental in organizing the Red Hats of South Webster and an active member of the Red Hats of Polo Park, bringing women together for friendship, laughter, and fun.

Sarah was a member of South Webster Community Church and cherished her faith and her church family. A true South Webster girl at heart, Sarah was a die-hard South Webster Jeep fan. She proudly supported her hometown and loved following the Jeeps. Above all, Sarah loved her family. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and community member who leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry her love with them.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of SOMC Hospice for the loving care given to Sarah and her family.

Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 27, 2026, 2:00 PM at D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in South Webster, with Pastor Merit Smith officiating; interment to follow at South Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to SOMC Hospice.
