Obituary

Sharon Elaine Hartley Webb (AKA Slim, Slimcat), 64, of Wheelersburg, entered heaven's gates and met her Lord on Friday, February 13, 2015. Fulfilling all her wishes, being surrounded by many friends and family in her last hours of life and saying her goodbyes, she peacefully told how she saw the angels coming to take her to heaven, for which she longed to go.

Sharon is survived by her husband, David, their cat Shadow, her daughter Shannon Hochstetler and husband Tim, her two grandchildren Roscoe and Matthew, all of Mooresville, Indiana, her stepson Scott Webb and his wife Regina , her two grandchildren Riley and Regan, of Wheelersburg, and her brother Monty Hartley(Kelli Wheeler) also of Wheelersburg. Slim had MANY kids she loved and provided for over the years, but especially close to her was Zane Smith.Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Helen Rowland Hartley, her sister Sheila Maria, her dog Shamrock, and stepdaughter Gina Webb.Slim's extended family is those who attended church with her at Pinkerman South Webster Community Church, in South Webster, Ohio.

Each Sunday morning Slim brought bags of 'goodies' to church, being certain that every child in the church had a treat for the day. She also passed out dollar bills to every child sitting within reach of her, to place in the offering plate. Special to Slim and Dave are their neighbors who have become another family to them, Tina Moore, Ron Lewis, and Heath and April Hollback. Ron Lewis, and Dave's sister, Diane Williams, were Sharon's devoted caretakers during her recent months of failing health. Sharon worked for United Scioto Senior Activities Incorporated for 27 years. She was a substitute bus driver for Bloom-Vernon Local Schools. Miss Slim volunteered at her church, in the community, and at Bloom-Vernon Elementary for many, many years. For each holiday Miss Slim prepared 'goodie bags' for children at the school and church, being certain that she included loud noise makers, so she could 'belly laugh' as the adults gave her ungrateful looks. She loved to 'sugar up' the kids at church who typically left with blue colored lips, and sent them home for their parents to deal with. Often being 'voluntold' to help, Slim always went above and beyond when it came to helping others. In fact, when a family friend was in need of dialysis several years ago, without being asked to help, she said, "That is something I can do to help." For the past 5 years Slim picked up Ithiel Cooper from dialysis and took him to his appointments or back home, making certain that he was comfortable and his needs were met after his treatments. Sharon loved fishing, shooting guns, walking, reading books, watching movies, driving her car, buying lottery tickets, traveling, sunshine, holiday cookouts, church dinners and helping others. Many, many families were provided with turkeys or hams for holidays, thanks to Slim. Slim was a quiet servant of her Lord, doing each of her tasks without seeking recognition. She fulfilled her calling on earth, as a servant of her Lord.

A 'homegoing' celebration of Sharon's life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 at Pinkerman South Webster Community Church, under the direction of D.W. Swick Funeral Home, in South Webster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pinkerman South Webster Community Church Building Fund, in memory Sharon (Slim).
