Obituary

Age 75 of Franklin Furnace, died Thursday, December 30, 20120 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born September 7, 1935 in Ashland, KY. She was an over-the-road truck driver for over 30 years and spent over 15 years driving for Werner Enterprises. Shirley loved to walk on her farm and observe the wildlife. She was a big fan of the "I Love Lucy" show and most especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by one son, John Gillum of Franklin Furnace; two brothers, Carmen Gillum of Dayton, OH, and Hesker (Betty) Gillum of Fairfield, OH; two sisters, Rose Jean Hesling of North East, PA, and Loretta Johnson of MO; one grandchild, Amber Gillum of West Portsmouth; one great-grandson, Austin Tumbleson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by one half-sister, Ivory Cox; one sister, Minnie Lee Hesling; and one brother, Dallas Gillum. The Gillum family would like to thank family friends, Jim Howell, Jimmy Howell, Jon Howell, and Jake Howell for building Shirley's dream porch which she truly enjoyed. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Donovan Finch officiating.
