Stephen Glen Potters, age 69, of South Webster, passed away peacefully at SOMC surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 5, 1956, to Lafe and Ruth (Maynard) Potters.
Steve worked as a truck driver for 30 years. In addition to his career, he had a deep love for farming and took great pride in his flowers. However, one of his greatest passions was serving his community as a baseball and softball umpire. For 30 years, Steve dedicated his time to umpiring and received the Hometown Hero award.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 44 years; his children, Josh Potters and Michael (Tedra) Grate; and his cherished grandchildren: Breanna (Junior), Ava (Jack), and Lafe Potters; Jacob (Logan) Grate; Sierra (Dallas) Foit; Private Brenden Grate; and Amelia, Cohhen, and Nohlen Grate.
He is also survived by his sister, Teresa (Jim) Toft; one nephew Adam (Jamie) Toft, two nieces Lindsay (Shane) Conn and Sara Toft; and many extended family members and friends.
A special thank you is extended to his private nurse, as he affectionately called her, Meghan Ratcliff, for the care and kindness she provided.
Steve also leaves behind his best friend, Frog Pennington, a special niece Hollie Ferrell, and his beloved fur buddy, Bobby. He was the proud great-grandfather of six great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. He will be deeply missed by his fist-bumping buddy, River Lee.
Steve will be remembered for his kindness, his dedication to his family and community, and the many lives he touched throughout the years.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2026, at D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in South Webster with Ryan Hagen officiating, interment to follow at South Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 NOON, until the time of the service, at 1:00 PM.
