Age 59 of Stout, went to be home with the Lord October 21, 2015 at Southern Ohio Hospice in Portsmouth He was born June 22, 1956 in Portsmouth to Bernard and Joyce (Bryant) Elrod, and graduated from West Portsmouth High School in 1975 Steve retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 22 years working as a civil engineer He most recently worked at the Huntington W.V. V.A He worked for Tanner and Stone Architectural firm in Portsmouth, and also worked for the forest service in West Virginia Steve was a member of Pond Run Baptist Church in Stout, loved carpentry, hiking, fishing, gardening and playing golf

He is survived by his wife Janice; two sons, Jonathan Elrod of West Portsmouth, Barrett Elrod of Stout; one daughter, Shawnda Webb and her husband Matthew Steinke of Denver, CO; one brother, Tim Elrod of Stout; one sister, Catherine Liddle of West Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Miles and Oliver Steinke.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Jim McCullough officiating Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park, with military honors Online condolences may be sent to DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
