Thelma Irene Cunningham, 84 of Rosemount Rd., passed away Sunday, January 4, 2008 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, OH. She was born August 17, 1924, a daughter of the late Clyde and Irene Williams Bush. She was a 1942 graduate of Glenwood High School and retired in July of 1985 from the Portsmouth City Schools Adult Education Program. She was a member of Valley United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Wheelersburg OES #516 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 23. She is survived by her second husband, Raymond B. Cunningham whom she married April 15, 1977; two daughters, Carolyn (Dick) Spradlin of Chesapeake and Sandy (the late Dale) Spradlin of Minford; two step-daughters, Jo Anne (Tom) Etterling of El Paso, Texas and Barbara (Charlie) Jones of Wheelersburg; one step-son, Ray Cunningham Jr. of London, OH; one brother, Don Bush of Sciotoville; four grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death on February 16, 1969 by her first husband, Alfred S. Armbrister, whom she married on December 15, 1945; one son, Alfred Armbrister Jr. on December 8, 1977 and one brother, Clyde Bush Jr. Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Rev. Frank James officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday 12 to 1 PM at D.W. Swick in New Boston.
