Thelma M. Tipton, 89 of Portsmouth died Sunday July 20, 2014 at Hill View Retirement Center. She was born February 11, 1925 a daughter of the late Floyd and Alberta Roush Hoffer. Thelma was a former waitress, loved to square dance and volunteered at CAO Head Start for over 30 years. She is survived by her husband, James Tipton; 2 daughters, Sandy (Steve) Easter of Eden Park and Teri (Chip) Slack of Columbus; sister, Dorothy Hunter of Phoenix, AZ; 2 grandchildren, Amanda Waldron and Sarah Sexton and a great-granddaughter, Payton. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Brun and 2 sisters, Irene and Hazel. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday July 24, 2014 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON with Pastor Sam Salyer officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park.
