Thomas D. Ward, age 61 of Portsmouth, died Friday, August 23, 2013 at SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born April 17, 1952 in Portsmouth to Edward and Sylvia (McDowell) Ward. Tom was a 1970 graduate of Glenwood High school in New Boston. After graduation he joined the United States Marines. After this he drove trucks for a concrete company for a short time. Music and gardening were two of his favorite things and he loved animals. He is survived by one daughter, Naomi Kay of Michigan; six grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Ward of Quincy, KY, Melvin Ward of Quincy, KY, George Ward, of Portsmouth; two sisters, Patricia (Edward) Collier of Portsmouth, Diana Faye of Portsmouth; one step-daughter, Sherry Fay Ryan of Tennessee; one step-son, Richard Sraher Jr. of Pensacola, FL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, one brother Mike Ward, and one sister Sarah Ward.
