Obituary

Twana Jayne Whitt, 63, of Portsmouth passed away Saturday March 4, 2023 at SOMC HOSPICE Center in Portsmouth. She was born November 11, 1959 to the late David Arthur Whitt and Janet (Lewis) Nelson. Jayne was a hard worker and worked at Infra-Metals in New Boston until her death. She loved her dogs and especially loved her nieces and nephews, attending all of their sporting events as she was quite the athlete herself excelling in track and field when she was in high school. Jayne was a 1978 graduate of Minford High School. She loved horses and was an exceptionally talented barrel racer. Jayne never met a stranger and was generous to a fault, she was always giving to others. She loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time hunting and fishing. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Jayne's name to Sierra's Haven, the Scioto County Animal Shelter, or a dog shelter of your choice.

Jayne is survived by a brother, Paul Whitt of Columbus; a step-brother, Dave Nelson and wife Ann of Oak Hill; step-sister, Sue Brown and husband Dan of South Shore, KY; nieces and nephews, Ian Whitt, Kim (Steve) Finley, Chris Hutchinson, Maria (Henry) Bartels, Michael (Kelli) Nelson, and Mark (Kendall) Nelson; many great-nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a step-sister, Phyllis Sparks.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE - NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
