Wanda June (Gulker) Shope, 81, loving wife and mother, went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2016 at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  Formerly of South Webster, she was the wife of Lowell Shope and had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  She was born December 21, 1934 in Bloom Township and was a 1952 graduate of South Webster High School.  She worked for 8 years for the General Telephone Company in Portsmouth, the Bloom-Vernon School District for 16 years, and was a volunteer at J.C. Sommer Elementary in Grove City for 14 years.  Wanda enjoyed traveling across the country, watching her grandchildren participate in various sporting activities. She enjoyed playing chair volleyball with her friends at the E.L. Evans Senior Center.

She is survived by her husband, Lowell Shope; two daughters, Becky (Matt) Lykins, Barb (Dave) Holbrook, both of Grove City: brother, Ronald Gulker of St. Clairsville; stepsister, Patty Roof of Piqua; four grandchildren, Tiffany (Chris) Howard, Whitney Holbrook, Cory (Molly) Lykins, Lindsey (fiancé Brenden Robinson) Lykins, all of Grove City; two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Addyson Howard, both of Grove City.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Gulker Dutiel; father, Elmer Gulker; stepfather, Stanley Dutiel; brother, Lehman Gulker; stepsister, Carolyn Monroe.

Visitation will be held at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in South Webster from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 with a graveside service to follow at South Webster Cemetery.  Pastor Merit Smith will be officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mt.
