Obituary

Wendell Lewis Adkins, 73, of Oak Hill, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his daughters Cathy and Rhonda on April 17, 2025 at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born October 26, 1951 in Oak Hill, a son of the late Benjamin and Jane (Coon) Adkins.

He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Oak Hill High Schools before enlisting in the US Army. Wendell loved his children and grandchildren along with his best friend and fur-baby, Junie. He loved to hunt, fish and play his guitar with his family and at church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus.

Wendell is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Jeff) Pendleton of South Webster, Rhonda Smith and fiancée (Danny Sissel) of Oak Hill and his beloved fur baby, Junie; grandchildren, Justin Pendleton-Pullins (Levi) Pullins of Portsmouth, Haley Smith of Oak Hill, Ryan Evans of Oak Hill and a brother Benjamin (Judy) Adkins of Chula Vista, CA.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Linda (Maynard) Adkins whom he married on November 12, 1969 in Oak Hill, a brother, John D. Adkins along with two grandchildren, Kyla M. Pendleton and Ethan A. Evans.

Graveside Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday April 22, 2025 at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Oak Hill with Dale Adkins officiating. Military Honors will be provided by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion.
