William. S. Barber died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Best Care in Wheelersburg. He was born May 2, 1927, in Schenectady, New York to Clifford and Idabell (Klahr) Barber. William served with the United States Navy for three years and with the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 1972. He then worked in law enforcement as a motorcycle police officer in Schenectady. William was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, in 2003; one son, Shawn Barber, and one daughter, Kathleen Barber. He is survived by good friends Doris and Gordon White of Wheelersburg. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Greenup County, Kentucky.
