William Edison Bower, 85, of Portsmouth, passed away March 18, 2024 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born February 20, 1939 in Portsmouth, a son of the late George and Carrie (Burris) Bower. He was a former Pastor and attended Victory Baptist Church. He loved trains, music and could play any song on his guitar. He was a former member of American Legion Post 134 in Wheelersburg.

Bill is survived by two sons, Charles Bower, Jody (Charlene) Bower and a daughter, Lori McGill all of Coburn, VA. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bower and Elizabeth Courtney; two brothers, Dave Bower, Ron Bower and a sister, Betty Ferber.

Memorial Services will be held 2 PM Wednesday April 3, 2024 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster. Burial to follow at South Webster Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by James Dickey Post 23, American Legion . A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
