Wilma Juanita Shoemaker Hacker, 93, of Wheelersburg, died Sunday August 30, 2009 at Best Care Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born April 29, 1916 in Sciotoville to the late Oscar and Tessie Shoemaker. Wilma was a 1934 graduate of East High School. She was a homemaker and previous owner and operator of Hacker's Grocery. Wilma was a member of the Pine Creek Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the former Empire Grange.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter Hacker, who died March 11, 1984, and two brothers, Paul Shoemaker and Chester Pick, Jr. She is survived by a son, Tommy Hacker (Cheryl) of Wheelersburg; two daughters, Marsha Pope of Wheelersburg, and Judith Cox McGlone (Edgar) of South Portsmouth, KY; a brother, Theodore Pick of Cincinnati; and a sister, Maxine Knapp of Wheelersburg. Wilma is also survived by four grandchildren, Anthony Selbee (Cheryl), Shannon Pope, Vikki Markins (Phil), and Sheena Welch (Wes); eight great-grandchildren, Erin Salisbury (Ryan), Kristen Selbee, Jordan Selbee, Marissa Markins, Cody Markins, Makyell Welch, Gage Welch, and Gavin Welch; two great-great grandchildren, Logan and Carson Salisbury; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Ron Henthorne officiating. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to the Activities Department at Best Care Nursing Center. Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
