Age 90 of Hillview Retirement Center went to be with the Lord December 16, 2015 at her residence. She was born November 9, 1925 in Madison County, OH to Oliver and Myrtle (Streeter) Jester. On August 8, 1950 she married Travis "Gene" Ashmore in Stout. After many years, she retired from the position of Head Cook at Clay High School. Zelda was a 70-year member of New Boston Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by one son, Daniel Ashmore (Cheri) of Minford; two daughters, Charlene (Cordial) Reeder (Max) of Piqua, OH, Anna (Ashmore) Killian (William) of Portsmouth; many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, including a niece, Carolyn Lawson Moberly (Ron) of Troy, OH, who she and Gene raised. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis "Gene" on December 3, 2000; one son, Brian Ashmore; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara (Cordial) Spence and James Spence; brothers, Maurice Jester, Wayne Jester, Esley Jester; sisters, Sarah Lafferty, Wilda Jean Thomas. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Hillview for all their care and compassion during the years that Zelda was a resident.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at New Boston Church of the Nazarene in New Boston with Pastor Mike Percell officiating. Interment will follow in Scioto Burial Park in McDermott. Friends may call Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville and one hour prior to the service at the church.
