About D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services
Welcome to D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services, a place where care, dignity, and respect are at the heart of what we do. For years, we have been a pillar in the community, offering a serene and compassionate environment for families to commemorate their loved ones.

Our History
A native of the area, Dee Swick and his wife Maria relocated from Texas in 1994, where they purchased their first funeral home in New Boston, adding a second in Wheelersburg in 1995. With the encouragement of community leaders, the Swicks opened a third funeral home in South Webster in 2000.
The Wheelersburg location was sold in 2006 and closed by the new owners in 2016. In 2017, the location was purchased and reopened as D.W. Swick Funeral Home. Then, in June 2020, the Wolfe–Nelson Funeral Home was purchased by the Swicks and renamed D.W. Swick Funeral Home (Wolfe–Nelson Chapel).
As a known landmark location of Sciotoville, Don Wolfe Funeral Home was founded over 50 years ago by local resident and long-time funeral director, Don Wolfe. Don had worked for other local funeral homes, including Piatt, Ralph Scott and Gill Funeral Homes and decided to incorporate the best attributes of each into his own business. After many successful years in Sciotoville, Don decided to retire at which time it was renamed Wolfe-Nelson Funeral Home. The Nelsons always wanted to own a family-oriented funeral home and were happy to find one in a small-town location. Dee and Maria were humbled to assume the original location in 2020, where Dee had originally begun his journey in funeral service as a young man serving families. In 2021, his son, Anthony Swick, joined the family firms.
Three locations, Sciotoville, Wheelersburg and South Webster proudly serving all of Scioto County and the surrounding areas.
With over 125 years of combined experience in funeral service, The Swick Family, along with their staff, is dedicated to caring for families in their time of greatest need. We welcome any questions you might have about funerals or prearrangements.
Online Memorial
We can create a customized, online memorial for you to share with family and friends. The memorial includes the obituary and any photographs you wish to provide. It will serve as a place for visitors to post condolences, share memories, upload photos, and light candles in honor of your loved one.
Tribute Video
We can produce a personal tribute video that can be played at the service and online. Simply provide us with the photographs you want to include and we will transform them into a video celebration of your treasured memories. DVDs or USB thumb drives of the video are also available.
Ordering Flowers
We make it easy for friends and family to send flowers to your home or service to honor your loved one. We have partnered with local florists to offer the convenience of ordering directly from the obituary page of our website. You can also use this feature to select the flowers you would like at the service. This is a secure way to choose beautiful arrangements from the privacy and comfort of your home.
Sharing Service Details
We reduce the stress of contacting those who need the details of the service for your loved one. We post the dates and times of the service as part of the online memorial on our website. You can then either share the memorial on your Facebook or X page or copy the details from the site into an email or text. Both options give you the peace of mind that you have provided the necessary information to those who need it.
